In an effort to express gratitude and say “thank you,” more than 30 Yuba-Sutter community members delivered Stephens Farmhouse pies to law enforcement agencies that serve Sutter County. In total, 300 pies were donated to the California Highway Patrol, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department and the Yuba City Police Department.

Stephens Farmhouse owners Jeff and Cherie Stephens came up with the idea to do something special for law enforcement to show appreciation for their efforts protecting the community and to combat recent criticisms.

Jeff and Cherie turned to Facebook to drum up support for the effort and ask for donations. The response went viral with hundreds of community members offering their financial assistance.

“We appreciate their sacrifice and dedication that helps ensure the safety of our homes, businesses and most importantly, our loved ones,” said Jeff Stephens. “They are the real-life heroes of our community, and while we don’t show it often enough, we appreciate everything they do for us.”

Sutter County Sheriff J. Paul Parker said everybody in his department got a pie — his deputies, dispatchers, everybody.

“I think it’s wonderful. I think it’s almost beyond belief,” Parker said.

Given the success in Sutter County, Jeff and Cherie are now working on a similar effort in neighboring Yuba County on Thursday. To make a contribution toward this effort, call Stephens Farmhouse at 530-673-0406
